Recently finished commission. A Charleston model with a custom paint job. All done with an airbrush. I tried something different with this...a dry pigment technique. Typically the pigments are mixed into a clear base paint and sprayed onto the pen. For this technique I only sprayed the clear base onto the pen. While still wet I'd use just the air of the airbrush to blow the dry pigment onto the pen. This created a really cool pattern. All the color are automotive grade chameleon pigments. So depending on the angle it'll flip between copper, gold, green, and blue. But in random areas which is really cool. Pics really don't do it justice!

I'm so glad to be back in action! January was just horrible. Flu, upper respiratory infection, strep, and ER visits didn't make for a productive month. These are two pens I hope to have finished later this year. Identical Prospectors from @newtonpens made for M1000 nibs. One in rose gold and the other two tone rhodium/ruthenium. The urushi has begun and I can't wait to see how they end up! Stat tuned for these and many other projects coming up soon!

As a creator, sometimes there are projects you just don't want to let go. This was one of those that I didn't want to, but did. Thankfully though I was able to buy it back a couple months ago! A purely experimental type of urushi (for me). Negoro style but with touches of tsugaru nuri using gold powders. One of my all time favorites. So happy to have it back 😁. Curiosity 2.0. Just like the original but with minor changes. Mainly the mountain area isn't textured. The abalone pieces range from .5mm to 2mm in diameter and were all cut out by hand. Cat, moon, star, and clouds were handpainted and done in a variety of silver powders. Soooo happy with how it all came together. As is its new owner!
